Then I took the gear belt and moved the carriage rod thru its full travel; right and left till it stops at each end. HP has a website for questions about printers and maintenance. These are difficult to work on I will warn you.

I have also tried the HP tips and no luck. I cleaned the pick up rollers with water and a clean rag and it seemed to help some but I hp officejet pro 1170cse figure out how to get to anything else to clean. I replaced the paper tray and put one drop of good quality machine oil on the carriage rod. Help, I keep getting Cartridge Carriage Blocked.
Is there something I’m missing? Let me know how its going. Clear blockage, turn power off and back on.
I would first blow out the pivot area good with an air nozzel. Simple problem, hp officejet pro 1170cse very difficult if you dont know what you are doing. There may be some obstruction getting caught in the carriage path. Surely if something was wrong with the carriage this error will also occur officfjet normal printing?

Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Got new paper tray and tried oiling carriage rod with paper towel and WD Still carriage blocked. I have noticed that the carriage moves away from the purging unit to about halfway and stops, but does not reach the access door position. It seems to 1170cs this all the way down the page. Get a new one first before you either work on it yourself or take it in.

This could also be a carriage spring. There doesn’t seem to ifficejet any broken parts on the paper tray, but removing the tray and re-installing it seems to clear the trouble temporarily.
